Glycogen is your primary fuel source. You burn more of it, and therefore need more of it when you’re working at high intensity. The P9. 0X workouts are hard! In the beginning, you’ll likely be struggling to keep up. You most likely won’t be elevating your heart rate to an anaerobic state during Chest & Back. However, as you progress through the workout, you’ll get stronger and you will work harder.
You’ll also burn more glycogen, so you’ll need to replace it. This happens when you intake carbs, which are converted into glycogen and then stored in the muscles and liver. However, the muscles and liver have limited storage capacity. When they’re full, the overflow goes into the fat cells and that’s why we need to limit carb intake early on.
